Interview with Lisa Gornick

1.   What are 5 things you would want to find?

I’ve reached that phase in life where you have too many things…So, I’m going to delete that word…At risk of sounding like a goody-two-shoes:

  • The candidate who can beat Donald Trump

  • Consensus on acting to halt climate change

  • A way to create the love of reading for all

  • A cure for glioblastoma because one of my dearest and most brilliant friends has this terrible disease

  • Quiet

2.   What are 5 things you would want to hide?

  • Opioids

  • Vaping pens

  • Cellphones of friends and family when they enter my home

  • The Internet for 23 hours a day

  • Grudges

3.   If you could choose anywhere in the world for your book to be hidden, where would it be?

On a beach in southern Crete where there’s a Venetian fortress and you can see Africa across the Libyan Sea and feel the ghost of the girlish Joni Mitchell, who wrote “Carey” there.

4.   If you could find any book, which would it be and why?

A never published novel by Virginia Woolf.  You don’t need me to say why.

 5.   Who would you want to find your book (another author, celebrity, et cetera)?

Barack Obama: a president who loves to read and has the soul of a writer himself.
